الملح الإنجليزي، المعروف بملح إبسوم، مركّب معدني يتكوّن من كبريتات المغنيسيوم، ويختلف عن ملح الطعام. يذوب بسهولة في الماء، ويُستخدم تقليديًا في حمّامات النقع الدافئة بعد المجهود أو الوقوف الطويل لما يمنحه الحمّام من إحساس بالراحة والاسترخاء.
يُذاب نحو كوب منه في ماء الحمّام الدافئ ويُنقع الجسم لمدة تتراوح بين خمس عشرة وعشرين دقيقة. ولنقع القدمين، تُذاب عدة ملاعق منه في حوض من الماء الدافئ. كما يمكن طحن البلورات وخلط كمية صغيرة منها بزيت نباتي لإعداد مقشّر للمناطق الخشنة من الجسم.
